Fiddle workshop
This workshop will cover the primary characteristics of traditional Scottish violin playing, including the Scots snap, birls or cuts, and most importantly, the strathspey! We'll briefly explore the piping, dancing, and vocal roots that influence Scottish fiddling, with a goal of learning a proper march, strathspey, and a reel or two. This workshop is geared towards proficient violinists and fiddlers with little or no experience in the Scottish idiom. Sheet music will be available at the workshop, but recording devices are highly recommended.
